Through direct action, Yuba Sutter SPCA promotes the humane treatment of animals, educates our community on responsible pet care, reduces pet overpopulation through an aggressive spay/neuter program and celebrates the human/animal bond.
The Yuba-Sutter SPCA, a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation, is making progress toward improving the welfare of cats and dogs in the bi-county area. All of these efforts are carried out by a paid part-time staff of 3, 30 volunteers, and a very limited budget.
Affordable Spay/Neuter and Vaccination Clinic: The lowest prices in the area, we traditionally serve Yuba and Sutter counties, but also have clients from Colusa, Butte, and Nevada counties.
Working Together to create a No-Kill Community: Since spring we have stepped up our efforts and have been a leading coalition of public and private shelters, educators, and veterinarians to create a roadmap that will virtually eliminate our pet overpopulation problem in 5-years and stop the killing of adoptable animals in our shelters. This roadmap will be the foundation for grant applications that will help fund the efforts.
Second Chance For Love Program: An innovative program to increase adoptions of animals who have run out of time at Yuba and Sutter Animal Control Shelters. Again, through cooperative efforts between county administrators, Raley' Supermarket, and the SPCA, we're finding homes for animals that used to be euthanized to make room for the next intake.
Adoptions: We have a limited adoption program for dogs and cats through a foster care program. Give us a call if you are looking for a new pet.
